We are 2 weeks from our 5th annual event on October 12. Some fun events this year include a World Premier Movie of “In the High Country” featuring filmmaker Joel Wolpert and one of the world’s best ultra runners Anton Krupicka. Come meet Joel and Anton at our free movie event at the Shepherdstown Opera House. For more read here.
Also meet West Virginian Jamie Summerlin who just completed a run across America to honor the US Military. Jamie will speak Friday at the Pasta Dinner at 4 and 7 and at the Opera House at 5. Jamie will also be available to sign his new book titled Freedom Run.
Pasta Dinner will be on site at the Expo from 4-8. Race Director and National Speaker on Running and Health Dr. Mark Cucuzzella will speak at 5:30.
We will have our prerace Expo Friday from 12-8 at the Shepherd Wellness Center. Lots of local vendors and footwear to try on.
So come explore Harpers Ferry National Historic Park, The C&O Canal, Antietam National Battlefield and the Potomac Heritage Trail with a variety of races. The 5th annual Freedom’s Run features a marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K and kids run. The courses are encased in National Park land, with some brief detours through the country roads and preserved historic towns. Events finish in historic Shepherdstown, W.Va. and feature a post-race Oktoberfest party—and it’s only 60 miles from Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
The historical route and race organization has earned a “Top 25 Half Marathon” by Runner’s World Magazine in February 2013 and is the Highlight Race in October 2013 Runner’s World.
