The Brooks Rev SS II ($34), Sherpa 2-in-1 Shorts ($46), Essential Run Vest ($60), and the Infiniti Double Tab Socks ($15) could be the perfect addition to your Spring wardrobe. Let’s take a look at what Brooks has to offer from top to bottom.
INITIAL IMPRESSIONS
Brooks Rev Short Sleeve Shirt
The Rev SS II is a semi-fitted shirt that is lightweight, breathable, and moisture wicking. It was comfortable from the first time I tried it on.
Brooks Sherpa 2 in 1 Shorts
Brooks update their most popular shorts with a 2-in-1 version. This has a 4.5 inch shell inseam with a 4 inch boxer brief inseam. I like the 2-in-1 shorts for its chafe-resistant properties. The liner is not seamless. It did ride a little lower on the hips than other shorts I have worn.
Brooks Essential Run Vest
The vest may run a little larger than normal. Some people have commented that the large was really large. I wore the small, but could have worn the extra small. Since it is a semi-fitted vest, the small worked for me. The vest is water resistant – coated with DWR (Durable Water Repellent). It has a nice felt-lined collar.
Brooks Infiniti Double Tab Socks
Hmmm, I wish they came in black. They are going to get dirty. The Infiniti comes in the No-Show length.
TRAIL TESTING
Brooks Rev Short Sleeve Shirt
It felt light on the body and dried quickly when wet. I had no chafing issues on long runs.
Brooks Sherpa 2-in-1 Shorts
I love the outer material. It feels soft and light. The boxer brief liner added extra comfort and a better fit. I experienced no chafing in the Sherpa 2-in-1 shorts on the longest runs over 20 miles. I did wish that it had one extra pocket in the back or maybe increasing the capacity of the existing back holster pockets.
Brooks Essential Run Vest
I love wearing this vest. It offers precisley the right warmth and protection from the wind and light rain, on warmer mornings when a jacket would be too heavy. The DWR water resistant coating works well during downpours. . The vest will appear to be soaked from the outside, but the inside remains dry (my Zune survived the downpour and yes, I still have a Zune). The Essential Run Vest also works well as casual wear around town.
Brooks Infiniti Double Tab Socks
The socks have sufficient cushioning in the toe, forefoot, and heel area. The achilles tab helps protect from any friction points. The socks feel like they drain well, when wet. In the “lab”, the Infinity Double Tab sock testing results were “Great”. They do come in a darker color – blue/black.
