UK Gear states their shoes are built to survive 1,000 miles. They develop their products in conjunction with the British Royal Army Physical Training Corps. (Oorah – for my Marine friend Don). Let’s see how the UK Gear PT-1000 SC (Structured Cushioning) shoe tests on the roads and trails.
INITIAL IMPRESSIONS
The UK Gear PT-1000 SC shoe fit true to size. UK Gear states the PT-1000 SC is a road and trail shoe. The shoe is built like a tank. It comes in at 12.75 oz and has a 7 mm offset. The PT-1000 SC is a well built shoe (not bad looking either). It is a little stiff, but again this shoe is a structured shoe. UK Gear makes a neutral cushioning model.

TRAIL (AND ROAD) TESTING
The PT-1000 SC tested well on and off the road. The testing was performed on approximately 40% roads and 60% trails. They tested well in wet conditions. I did not test them in very muddy conditions (a dry year), but would be confident they would do well with their directional lug patterns on the outsole. In the lab, the evaporation test result was “Good”. The overall comfort is sufficient for a structured shoe. I am half-way in reaching the 1,000 mile mark and the outsole and overall shoe structure appears to be functioning well. There is minor wear on the heel and mid-foot section of the outsole. I don’t see any reason why the PT-1000 SC would not last until 1,000 miles.

CONCLUSION
The UK Gear PT-1000 SC shoe is designed for the runner looking for extra support in a structured shoe with durability. The PT-1000 SC is built to last (on road and trail) and comes with the claim of surviving 1,000 miles. UK Gear also has a 21 day guarantee – “Buy them, wear them for up to 21 days, and if you’re not completely satisfied, return them…whatever their condition!” It’s worth a try and if you can get 1,000 miles on them, it is a bargain.
